10 December/ 2018

This will improve relations in the field of culture, tourism, economy, transport and in a number of other areas.

Sergei Sobyanin held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the federal state of Lower Saxony, Stefan Weil. It discussed issues of economic cooperation.

“In Moscow, traditionally, there are very strong ties with the German lands, with many cooperation agreements signed. And from the point of view of the volume of economic relations, Germany as a whole takes a significant share in cooperation with Moscow, ”said Sergey Sobyanin.

According to him, the trade turnover between German and Moscow enterprises began to recover. So, in 2017 it grew by a quarter. In addition, representatives of the capital take part in every Hanover fair.

Sergei Sobyanin recalled that a lot of work is underway in the capital on the VDNH reconstruction. Since 2021, the number of exhibition space here will be doubled, so you should think about the cooperation of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements and the Hanover Fair.

“Lower Saxony is an important partner for us. Machines assembled in your land drive through Moscow streets, the airplanes that you produce fly from Moscow airports, ”said the Moscow Mayor.

Sergei Sobyanin proposed to sign an agreement on socio-economic cooperation between Lower Saxony and Moscow.

“There is no such agreement between our regions, and, probably, this is wrong. We could sign an agreement that would predetermine and accelerate the development of our relations in the field of culture, tourism, economy, transport and in a number of other areas, ”he said.

Stefan Weil noted improvements in the city. In addition, he decided to visit the Russian capital once a year to contribute to the development of relations between Moscow and Lower Saxony.

“Moscow, as is known, is the largest city in Europe. And it is very pleasant that, unlike many large cities in Asia or America, Moscow continues to be a comfortable city for living, personifies urbanism in the Western sense. And I can say that I feel very good in Moscow. This is certainly related to your policy,”the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony emphasized.
