CeBIT 2016, 14 - 18 March: Over 1500m² of exhibition space at the Partner country SWISS pavilion22 December/ 2015
The focal point of Switzerland's presence at the trade fair will be the Partner country SWISS pavilion in Hall 6. Swiss exhibitors will also be based in the various subject-specific areas of CeBIT. Through their products and solutions, well-established companies and start-ups alike will present themselves as reliable and progressive business partners. The Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology in Zurich and Lausanne, the Universities of Zurich and Ticino, and the presentation of the national Swiss Innovation Park project will highlight Switzerland's innovative strength and digital competence. The Partner country SWISS pavilion will be the starting point of the traditional tour of CeBIT by German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the second day of the trade fair, for which she will be accompanied by Switzerland's upcoming president.
Switzerland at the heart of the CeBIT opening
The CeBIT Switzerland Summit, which takes place in the afternoon of the first day, will focus on the issue of digital transformation. Participants will include not only German Federal Research Minister Professor Johanna Wanka and Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann, the head of the EAER, but also leading representatives from the fields of business and research. ETH President Lino Guzzella, Turing Award winner Niklaus E. Wirth, Google Director Strategic Partnerships International Samuel Widmann, BITKOM President Thorsten Dirks and ICTswitzerland Chairman Ruedi Noser have already confirmed their attendance. CeBIT will be opened officially as part of Monday evening's Welcome Night by Switzerland's upcoming president and by Sigmar Gabriel, the German Deputy Chancellor and Federal Economics and Energy Minister. Switzerland will also showcase its leadership in innovation through a talk by Swatch Group CEO Nick Hayek and a film.
